Make your own delicious craft beer from malted grains. The process has been simplified that anyone can make it with standard kitchen equipment.

Choose from the following recipes or suggest one you wish to make and I’ll put it together for you.

  • Ales (5%)
  • IPA extra hoppy (5%)
  • California steam beer (4-5%)
  • Irish/Oatmeal stout (4.5%)
  • Oktoberfest/Maerzen (5-6%)
  • German wheat beer (4%)
  • Belgian wit beer (4-5%)
  • Belgian Dubbel (7%)
  • Strong beer/ Belgian Triple (9%)
  • Kolsch (Ale from Cologne/Koeln) (5%)

The kits include specialty ingredients. You will need to bring some basic kitchen equipment from home to help you make and transport your beer home.

What the craft beer kits contain:

Each workshop needs specialized equipment and ingredients that I will provide at cost for you to make 8 to 10 L of beer.

  • 2-3 kg of cracked malted grains specifically blended to your chosen beer recipe ready for mashing
  • Specialty yeast unique to your chosen beer style
  • Selected hops for your chosen beer style

What you need to bring:

  • large cooking pot (minimum 6-8L or 1.5-2 gal) with lid,
  • A digital thermometer
  • One 15 – 20 L plastic (food grade) bucket with lid
  • A long handled (wooden/plastic) spoon for stirring
  • A single burner electric hot plate that will work with your pot
  • A 1 – 2 L electric kettle to boil water to rinse the spent grains
  • A large colander that can be placed on top of your bucket to help with rinsing the spent grain mash (optional)

Schedule:

Saturday morning: 10:00 – 12:00 am – Mashing your grain

In this portion of the workshop we will steep the cracked grain at different temperatures unique to your chosen beer style to convert the grain starch into malt sugars for your beer wort.  

Saturday afternoon: 1:00-3:00 pm – Brewing

Once the wort has been collected, it is time to boil it and add the hops. We will also discuss the fermentation process and bottling options.

For those from out of town, we have double rooms available (with 1 queen bed and attached bathroom).
